Dance Schools

Dance is a popular art form all around the world and it’s shows like ‘So You Think You Can Dance’ that have shown just how enormous this sport is. Dancing has come from many different cultures and origins and there are many different forms of dance you can perform.

Enrolling in dance schools to learn specific techniques or improve on old skills is something a lot of people are now doing.  Dance studios provide a place where dancers can learn new routines or rehearse ones previously learnt. The space has been built for this specific purpose and usually consists of a large, smooth floor surface. Most studios have a sprung floor that allows it to become flexible to absorb impact of the dancing.

Depending on the type of dance school, most studios will include a handrail fixed to the wall for balance and built in sound system to play music. Most schools will also include mirrors, as it is important the dancer sees their movements in order to perfect them.

These studios have different dance schools that will use the space to teach students who are interested. The differing schools will usually have classes for you to attend and learn routines. Dance schools can offer basic lessons for those who want to learn basic choreography or they can help dancers improve to gain auditions for the dance profession.

Dance schools can have yearly performances or they may be involved in competitions with other schools. They can range from performing shows in the studio to performing in another state. As the students’ skills improve the teacher may try to enter them into a competitive domain.

Dance studios and schools are available for most types of dance genres, but the most popular are jazz, tap, ballet and hip-hop. Classes can run on weekday evenings or sometimes early on weekends. The level of competition or if you’re doing it for fun will depend on the amount of times you practice.
